Bloggers Recognition Award!

Thank you so much to Sarah from Bipolar Bytes, for nominating me for the Blogger Recognition Award. I just started this blog 21 days ago, and it’s been an incredible ride so far. I’m still just so geeked to be here! Thanks for letting me be a part of the party.

Bloggers Recognition Award

The purpose of this award is to motivate and encourage bloggers and let them know that they’re appreciated, no matter how big or small their blog is. The idea is to share the love; so at the end of this post I will be tagging about 15 bloggers who I’d love to nominate!

The guidelines are as follows:

1. Start a new post. Thank whoever nominated you and provide a link to their blog.

2. Next, include a brief story of how and why you started your blog

3. Then, share some advice or “lessons learned” for new bloggers

4. Finally, select up to 15 other blogs deserving of recognition and list them in your post. Publish it!

5. Last but not least, let the nominees know you have nominated them and provide a link to the nomination details (the post you just published).

6.  Go back to the person who nominated you and leave a comment with a link to your acceptance of the award!

How and why I started my blog: I am a complicated person with a complicated life (who isn’t?), and I needed an outlet that was completely anonymous. I’ve journaled before and I loved it, but it didn’t feel like the feelings really went anywhere after they left me, and that felt somewhat hollow. I wanted to send my thoughts out into the world, not just out of myself and into a notebook. So one night I just made this blog, on a whim (which is not unlike me, I do a lot of things seemingly out of impulse). I had no idea I would write this much or use this medium with so much enjoyment when I started. 3 weeks have gone by. I love it. 🙂

Lessons learned for new bloggers: I honestly don’t feel qualified for this one. I’m a new blogger. So I guess my advice would be limited to this: interact, don’t just lurk, and learn how to save drafts as soon as humanly possible. Losing work partway through, sucks.

The Blogs I would like to nominate:

A Good Blog is Hard to Find was one of the first blogs I found when I joined, and I’m so grateful it was. He’s opinionated, insightful, and not afraid to ruffle feathers. Definitely worth checking out.

a2eternity – An Honest Look at Living with Bulimia has been an insightful, candid look into mental illness, and she’s a doll to comment with.

From the Machine has been very insightful to me as a fellow sufferer of time distortion and dissociation.

Gender Mom is a blog that I haven’t gotten too in depth with yet, but what I have read has been incredible. A mom helping her young trans daughter. Inspirational and informative.

La Quemada has a wonderful blog about recovery from abuse and mental illness. Thought provoking and brutally honest, a quality I always admire.

The Thrill Of the Chaste is a great BDSM blog, and helps show that not all BDSM is about sex. Sometimes, it’s specifically about NOT sex. 🙂

Mental Break Lots of interesting content, from poetry to musings to videos to rants. I love the variety and it’s definitely worth a look.

Random Thoughts of a Reformed Paramour is a really enjoyable BDSM blog. And she’s kick ass.

The Saturday Evening Poet is an amazing blog, written by a woman with an incredible grasp for words. Check her out.

The Isaiah 53:5 Project A wonderful Christian blog that challenges me, inspires me, ticks me off, and tolerates me all the same. This blog in particular deserves an honorable mention, because BDSMer’s like myself are not used to being met with open arms by Christians. Whether I agree or disagree with each of their posts, they never fail to make you think.

So, that’s my list. Please check them out, like some posts, hit some follow buttons, and broaden your horizons as they have broadened mine.

    • As for referring to it as a BDSM blog, I figured I would shed some light. I am a BDSM lifestyler: it is my sexual orientation much like being gay or straight is for other people. Thus, I have a decent number of BDSM followers. I’m also a Christian with a decent number of highly religious followers (how they tolerate my blog I have no idea). When doing my nominations, I wanted to make sure I delineated for my readers what they were being referred to.

Also, I do think of it as BDSM, though that is not to slap any label on you that you don’t want, of course. People think of BDSM as being all whips and chains. It’s not. Even the acronym is an amalgamation of 3 others: B&D, Bondage and Discipline, D/s, Dominance and submission, and S&M, Sadism and Masochism. Most people think of BDSM as being just S&M, but it’s not. I know people who do bondage and nothing else, people who like pain but want no sexual or power dynamic. And then there are those like myself who showed up for the D/s power exchange and then discovered I wanted to enjoy the whole buffet.

It’s not just one thing, and male chastity is such a huge subset of it, that my brain slotted it there. My apologies if that was presumptuous of me.

Either way, you really do deserve the award, and thanks for being awesome.
